I'm a South Dakota Mikkelson (spellings vary--damned illiterate immigrants). I'm probably related to the guy the trail head was named after.

Hey Marie! Thanks for visiting. I seriously hope that you didn't take my comments on this topic personally! I shouldn't have generalized so much about Eureka, after all, there were a lot of great projects that did get done while we were there. Only many of them were years in the making before any ground was ever broken. It was frustrating. Maybe it's unrealistic to expect to see any civic projects get off the ground sooner?

Our meeting with the ED from Spearfish was interesting. I'm compiling our info and will have a post on that soon, stay tuned.

Hello to both of you and Jerry! I will be following with interest your travels and discussions about the places you visit. How did your meeting with the Spearfish ED Director go? If you find places where concensus and community partnerships help get things done, I am interested in reading about them. I also hope to get future travel ideas from your posts!

Make a hard turn north, cross the border and you will soon be in the town I was born -- Winnipeg Manitoba.

But if you want some really incredible country head up to lake of the woods Ontario / Minnesota (the Ontario side is better) ;) Great Pickerel Fishing but you may know them as Walleye. :)
