I made a similar repair on my kitchen cabinet. The kids constantly hang on the handle, and they eventually ripped the wood screws right out. It's actually a great fix that you described. Each time the kids decide to hang on the cabinet doors now, I simply tighten up the screws and nuts. Problem solved!

When my screws came loose, i just went up one size in width of the screw and coated them with gorilla glue, and now I have not had a problem with them in a few years since the glue is waterproof and is as tough as nails.

I guess the pitfal would be replacing the cabinet doors in the future. But I will deal with that when the time comes.

Hammocks are the way to go I think. If there are any flying blood suckers, I have a mosquito net handy which tends to work pretty good.

Hammocks are open invitations to nasty swarms of biting and stinging insects. They can detect a man at ease from about three hundred yards.
