Kim, I would say don't waste your time on TorC but go to Silver City and visit the United Country office downtown. They were really good there. We didn't spend enough time in the area but saw some promising pieces of land outside of Silver City. We might have gone back had we not found something in Colorado. Also, the vibe in Silver City is interesting. Much better than TorC, and it has a lot of that New Mexico magic that I love. Do check it out.

I'm going back to look at your NM posts. We're going to be visiting some of the areas you did posts on and I wanted to hear what you had to say. This kind of sounds like an area we'd be interested in. Here and Silver City. We're getting ready to leave Taos at the end of the week and we'll be headed south to this area. If you have any other recommendations on things to see other than your posts, let me know.

If you haven't read The Milagro Beanfield War, you should. It has some good insight into the roots of New Mexico anti-growth sentiment. Of course, it would be just like T or C to skip all that intermediate stripmall/condo/golf course stuff and go right into space development. They might even be persuaded to change their name for the effort.
