Happy Anniversary Baby!

Beautiful Rene Atop Hecla JunctionPlease allow me this brief moment to shout out to the entire world just how much I love my wife. Isn’t she beautiful?

Living together in a trailer on the road, it’s hard to surprise someone with anything. But since steel is the traditional gift for an 11-year anniversary, and Rene isn’t really into jewelry – the modern choice – perhaps I can steal her heart once again with a few heartfelt words.

I recently expressed concern to René about her dancing on the precipice at Black Canyon National Park. OK, she wasn’t dancing. But her scrambling made me nervous nonetheless.

Not because she might fall or be hurt. But because I would be nothing without her. And the thought of losing her is overwhelming when faced with the slightest danger.

Rene Climbing Chasm at Black Canyon National ParkRené completes me. She is my navigator, financial adviser, nutritionist, best friend and soul mate. Without her this trip would not be possible. And wherever it takes us I know we will triumph, because she is at my side.

So here’s to another eleven years, and another eleven after that, and so on … and so on …

View of Rene and Jim and the Collegiate PeaksWords cannot describe my gratitude, appreciation and everlasting love for René so I will keep this short.

My wedding day was easily the happiest day of my life. Except for each one to come, with my loving wife.

  1. Congratulations – wow that was beautiful, brought happy tears to my eyes! I’ve always marveled at Nae Nae’s bravado since she was a tot, and since you’ve been on this trip it’s clear to me that together with Jim it’s Nae Nae to the 2nd power. You two feed each other’s need for adventure, it’s wonderful to see you two living your dream!

  6. Happy Anniversary and congratulations you guys! ALthough I knew you were a good match as soon as I met Rene. I’ve known Jim for a long time, and have met some of his other “romantic choices”, and he always seemed to be uneasy, and unsure, and turbulent. But that all went away when he met Rene. He was a happy guy! And that wedding really felt like a spectacular occasion! And ever since, you two have been successful in everything you have tried together. You obviously make a great team. So it’s no wonder you are successful in marriage! So, (continue to) enjoy your life together. I love you both, and wish you nothing bet the best of times in the future! Happy Trails! -love – Bri

    Cheers!

  10. There he goes again, my super sentimental, silly husband. From day one he’s always managed to cause my heart to skip a beat, and make my eyes water with his romantic tendencies on special occasions like this.

He totally caught me off guard with this post, and threw a smile on my face from ear to ear.

I can’t ask for anything more. I am truly blessed, and look forward to growing old with a kind and gentle soul like Jim.

Thanks for your well wishes everyone!
