Quick Colorado Geology Lesson

Vickers Ranch Cliffs View from Gold Hill LakeAs I mentioned in my last post about planting street signs, I recently discovered why they call these the Rocky Mountains. The ground is full of rocks. Big ones!

Often referred to by locals as a real “Hooney” the large rock formation one encounters when digging in southwestern Colorado is actually of the Leaverite variety.

As in … Leave ‘er right there!

  1. Ya,
    At least I think I was…

“And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but its sinking.
Racing around to come up behind you again…
The sun is the same in a relative way, but your older.
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.”

  2. Dang Jim,
I don’t recall you in any of my Geology classes. I seem you remember you were in Mar-com and the only class we had together was Drug and Alcohol abuse.

Nonetheless the only thing I truly remember is that I don’t need your signature…

    Cya bro 😉
