According to wikipedia Black Friday is "More recently, merchants and the media have used it instead to refer to the beginning of the period in which retailers go from being in the red (i.e., posting a loss on the books) to being in the black (i.e., turning a profit).

Here in Coffeyville, KS, both day and night shifts worked 7 hours instead of 11 hour shift. Starting today (Friday) we go back to 10 hour shifts - at least for now - as with everything at amazon.com things can/will change again soon....but that is a big part of their success....they can and do change things very quickly. Yes, as you can tell I am a fan of amazon.com and yes I am a workamper working for them through Express Pro.

I believe it! Though I wonder if it was ever really worth $290... The neighborhood we walk often feels like a ghost town with foreclosures on every block. And, a local realty sign touts houses to be had for $95,000. Though again – no offense to anyone who might actually like it here – but I wonder if you'd get your money's worth with those either.

Thanks for the comment!

NBC had an article on Fernley. Tom Borkaw on his highway 50 series stopped there. He interviewed a firemen who had just bought his first house there. He paid $130,000 for a foreclosed house that had sold for $290,000 a couple of years ago.
